* Bond: Dated 11.9.1699. Robert Stainridge of Whitby to pay £60 to John
Smalwood by 11 March next. Witnessed by Wm Watson, Barbry Boyes,
Frances King
* Bond: Dated
26.10.17[?04?]. Robert Stanridge of Whitby, Co. York, merchant and John
Doe to pay £60 on 25 December next. Witnessed by Marg. Boyes [remainder
damaged]
* Brief: 3 copies for the
plaintiff in Stanridge q Sneaton & ux. Robt Stanridge, plaintiff;
Christopher Sneaton & Elizabeth his wife, defendants (court not
stated). Defts wife indebted to plt in £4:01s:05d for divers goods etc.
at Whitby, 1 November 1697 & also promised to pay for further goods
on delivery worth £7. Defts were married 1 June 1702.

of York, Gent to pay Robte Stainridge of Whitby in the County of York,
Gent, £25 at such time as the said Thomas Whitehead shall enjoy &
be deputed in the Office of Rydeing Surveyor in the place & stead
of the said Robte Stainridge, and £20 on 11 November next. Witnessed by

of Jno Worthington of Brinington, Cheshire, tanner, apprentice in the
occupation of marriner to Robt Stanridg of Whitby in the County of
York, merchant for 4 years from 24.6.1697. Witnessed by Peter Stanridg,
Isaac Worthington.

Dated 27.3.1685. From Matthew Shipton of Lyth in the County of York,
Gent, releasing Robert Staneridge of Whitby in the County of York,
merchant taylor, from all actions, cause & causes etc.

* Bill of Sale: Dated
13.3.1694/5. John Jackson of Whitby in the County of York, master &
mariner, in consideration of £10 12s 2d, paid by Jonathan Greetham of
the same town, mariner. For 1/32 part of the barque called Good Intent
of Whitby, 60 tons or thereabouts, of which barque John Jackson is
master, and 1/32 part of all the mastes, sailes etc.. with an equal
part of twenty five pounds stock. Witnessed by John [....], Edwd

* Bond: Dated 12.1.1702. George Cooper of Whitby in the County of York,
Master Mariner promises to pay Robert Stanridge of Whitby to and for
the use of Mr Henry Atkinson of the town of Newcastle £40.

o Also promises to pay Mr William Cooper of Scarbrough £40 due on bond

* Letter: Dated 25.2.[16]92/3. Signed Robt Stanridg. Refs to bond for
which £500 paid to Hen Stonehouse, and to a lease & security. Reply
dated 27.2.[16]92. No signature, and includes the line "... but yf ye
King is cuming against my land....".
* Warrant of Attorney:
o Dated 16.2.1686. John Anderson of the Burrow of Kelsey in the Kingdom
of Scotland Merchant otherwise called John Anderson of Whitby, County
of York, Yeoman. Release quitclaim etc to Robert Staineridge of Whitby,
Mercer all actions suits etc. Referring to suit of Robert Staineridge
at Court of Common Pleas for £21 17s 6d
o Dated 25.1.1686. to Nicholas Hall, Gent or any other attorney at the
Court of Common Pleas. Authorising & appointing him (or them) to
appear for me this Hill Terme at the suit of Robert Staineridge.
o On reverse, "Febr 16th 1686 John Anderson's warrt of Attorney p. £21
19s 6d entr Hill terme 1686 wth release of errors
* Authorisation: Undated. From John Newgent of Whitby, Soap Boyler for
Mr Robt Stainridge of Whitby to collect debts owing as he is about to
"remove a great distance"
* Single sheet of latin script which appears to relate to the Stainridge/Sneaton suit
* Indenture: Dated 11.4.1691. Between Michaell Hallder of Thornton,
County of York, Yeoman & Robert Stainerigg of Whitby, Marcer on the
one part and George Ward of Whitby, Yeoman of the other. Refs judgement
for Robert Stainerigg against Michaell Hallder at the Court of Common
Pleas for debt of £12 and sets over the bond to George Ward.
* Indenture of Apprenticeship: Dated 25.7.1693. John Hovington
apprenticed to Robt Stainridge of Whitby. Refs Elizabeth Hovington of
Phillis Church (Felixkirk) in the County of York, widow of John
Hovington. Witnessed by Will Harrison, Geo Ward
* 8.3.1699. William Barker of Scarbrough, Master & Mariner, owner
of 1/32 part of the pinque called Providence of Scarbrough (John
Robinson junr, Scarbrough, Gent is master), in consideration of £20
paid by Robert Staindridge of Whitby, Mercer, assigns over his share of
money due from His Majesty for the vessel's service as a transport in
Ireland.

arbitrator in a dispute between Robertt Stainridge & Miles White of
Coathouses in Whitby. Endorsed 28.9.1705 by Miles White that the 6d

street called Sand Gate, on the N. to the messuage in the tenure of
Joseph Collington and on the E. to the messuage where Robert Stainrigge
now dwells.
o To be repaid at the end of 3 years, on 24.6.1692.
